Stir fry is the ultimate quick dinner. High heat, fast cooking, endless variations. This beef version delivers restaurant flavour with half the oil.

Equipment Needed

  • Wok or large frying pan
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Rice cooker or pot

Method

Step 1: Prep Everything

Slice beef if needed. Cut peppers into strips. Chop broccoli into florets. Mince garlic and ginger. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil in small bowl.

Step 2: Cook Rice

Start rice first — takes longest.

Step 3: Hot Wok

Heat wok until smoking. Add vegetable oil.

Step 4: Sear Beef

Add beef in batches. Cook 2 minutes until browned. Remove.

Step 5: Vegetables

Add broccoli first (2 minutes). Add peppers, garlic, ginger (2 minutes).

Step 6: Combine

Return beef to wok. Pour sauce over. Toss 1 minute.

Step 7: Serve

Over rice immediately.


Tips

High heat is essential. Don't crowd the pan or you'll steam instead of fry.

Prep everything first. Stir fry happens fast.

Slice beef thin. Against the grain for tenderness.
